West Kowloon Chinese Opera Center

The official name of this new establishment is called the West Kowloon XIQU Centre which sounds a little odd to most of the local people. XIQU is the Putonghua pinyin of 戲曲,literally means Chinese Opera. It is not completely in English and not completely in Putonghua pinyin. It is located in West Kowloon near the Austin MTR station and the Elements shopping mall.

We stopped by just to check out how it looked, what kind of Chinese Opera were showing and the stalls that sold traditional Chinese products. It was fun for the kids to walk around. JT and his two cousins had fun looking at an artisan demonstrate lantern making.

We adults had a good time visiting the bamboo theater and remembering our childhood during the traditional  Chinese holidays when we could see performance in the bamboo theater. It was really way back when....
